A scrappy first half saw Nottingham playing below par, with Birmingham taking the lead before half-time. The football was overshadowed, however, by a sickening wrist injury to Ballbois defender Brett L.
There was an extended half-time break as ambulances attended to the injuy. In the second half, the home team picked up their game and pulled level with a debut goal for Craig M.
Birmingham again took the lead - there was confusion over what seemed to be a free-kick for a back-pass, however the kick taken was direct and the goal stood. At the other end of the pitch, Nottingham were awarded a penalty, Damian S equalising from the spot.
The game was to be decided from another dead-ball situation, with James H skilfully placing a free-kick into the opposition goal.
Nottingham celebrated a narrow win, but the club's thoughts following the game are with Brett to whom we wish a speedy and full recovery. |
