One goal gave Nottingham a victory in this hard-fought match, although the visitors from Edinburgh were unlucky not to take something from the game, and may well have done had they put away some of their chances.

In this GFSN League opener, Nottingham were unable to match their cup form, losing at Yorkshire to the only goal of the match.

Nottingham played a good first half, and had the majority of the play, but their half dozen shots all found the woodwork. In the 44th minute, Yorkshire got through the Nottingham defence to take a lead into half-time.

The second half was more evenly matched, and Nottingham were unable to do anything to make good the one goal deficit. Yorkshire did not add to their lead, but their one goal proved sufficient at the final whistle.

Nottingham's cup defence continued in style with a 4-0 victory over the visitors from Yorkshire. A second half of what the manager later described as 'sexy football' saw Nottingham play to their strengths and into pole position in the Midlands group of the GFSN Cup.

Nottingham began their season and their defence of the GFSN Cup with a victory at local rivals Leicester.
