GFSN League
Away (Temple Newsam Park, Leeds)

In a hard fought match with few chances, Nottingham managed to hang on determinedly to gain their first away league point of the season against second placed Terriers.

No quarter was given by either side but quality football was at a premium on a difficult pitch.

Yorkshire opened strongly but were held at arms length as the Ballbois settled into their stride. Yorkshire came oh so close mid-half, but a goalline clearance thwarted them. Nottingham's best chances came through the pace of their wingers and AJ sent over two teasing crosses but they were wasted with nobody around to finish the moves off.

The second half was for a time quite even but once again two strong defences were having the final say.

With twenty-minutes remaining a Terrier received a straight red card for a two-footed challenge - an opportunity arose for the away side. As often happens when down to ten men, it spurred on Yorkshire who produced a very strong finish with four successive corners,  but Nottingham didn't buckle. The Terriers finished with a quality move and their striker hit the outside of the post.

So Nottingham were involved in their fist ever goalless match and they fought hard throughout. Quality passing was at a premium, however, with their wingers getting little service. Defensively they were sound and well organised with Brett L outstanding and Paul B offerring reliable support.
