An FA-backed panel event to discuss homophobia in football and LGBT sports participants is the centrepiece of Nottingham Ball Bois FC's events for LGBT History Month 2012.

LGBT History Month is an annual event held during February to celebrate and raise awareness of Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender history in the UK. To coincide with Olympic year, the theme of the 2012 event nationally is sport.

The panel event takes place on February 21st at 6.30 pm in Nottingham, and is being organised in conjunction with campaigning group Kick-it-Out and LGBT Sports Development body Pride Sports.

Details of the panel event, and our other events during the month of February, are available on our LGBT History Month events page.

On Saturday October 15th, Nottingham Ball Bois play their first fixture in the Midlands Unity League. The new league brings together four gay-friendly clubs from (pictured l-r) Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Birmingham and Leicester.

Nottingham will continue to play in the national GFSN League. The Midlands league will offer the chance for more fixtures within easy travelling distance, and more opportunities for competitive football for all of the squad.

Each team in the league will play against the other once in a six-nations format. At the end of the season, a play-off day in Birmingham will determine the final league positions.

The first fixture, on October 15th, is at home to Leicester Wildecats. Kick-off is at 2pm at Gresham Sports Park grass pitches. Details and directions are on the fixtures page.
