The first game in the run-up to the new season saw the Ballbois accept the offer of a friendly game against a local team of Post Office employees.

For both sides, the game was somewhat experimental. The Post Office team were more used to playing five-a-side games, and the Ballbois were playing five debutants (Simon R, Damian S, Craig S, Ed and AJ) in addition to giving a game to some of the fringe members of the squad.

The novelty of the squad composition, as well as the return from the summer break, meant that the first half was not a spectacular affair. It ended goalless with a few basic errors and a lack of possession and passing manoeuvres creeping in.

The second half saw more determination from both sides, but it was the Post Office who were to break the deadlock as the Ballbois were caught napping on a corner. Nottingham fought back, however, and eventually got a deserved goal from debutant AJ, who celebrated in spectacular style.

Despite action at both ends of the pitch, there were to be no further goals, the game ending honours even at 1-1.
